Punjab introduces strict new traffic fines & penalties

LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a new schedule of heavy fines and punishments for violations of traffic laws under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 2025.

The District Police Vehari has released the list of these violations along with the details of fines, punishments and other legal action for the public.

According to the new ordinance, fines for various violations have been significantly increased, while imprisonment of up to 6 months has also been imposed for some serious violations. The aim of this measure is to improve traffic discipline and protect the lives and property of citizens from accidents.

Major Violations and Fines

As per the details given in the image, some major violations and the fines imposed on them are as follows:

1. Overspeeding

Motorcycle: Rs. 2000

Other vehicles: Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5000

2. Underage driving

Heavy fine on parents/guardians

Vehicle seizure

Imprisonment up to 6 months in some cases

3. Riding a motorcycle without a helmet

Fine: Rs. 2000

4. Riding a vehicle without a silencer/pressure horn

Fine: Rs. 2000

5. Wrong parking and one-way violation

Fine: Rs. 2000 to Rs. 3000

6. Driving a vehicle/motorcycle without a number plate

Fine: Rs. 2000

Including the option to stop the vehicle

7. Using tinted glass Do

Fine: Rs 2000

8. Illegal lights, off-road lights or improper use of high beams in a vehicle

Fine: Rs 2000 to 3000

9. Disobeying the orders of the traffic police / misbehaving

Fine: Rs 2000

  • Possible legal action
  • Imprisonment for some serious violations

A number of violations are not only punishable by fines but also imprisonment for up to 6 months, including:

  • Underage driving
  • Accidents at high speed
  • Driving while intoxicated
  • Using fake number plates

Police message

District Police Vehari has appealed to the citizens to follow traffic rules, ensure their own safety and the safety of others and avoid any kind of violation. The aim of the change in the rules is to reduce traffic accidents and provide a better urban environment.
