LAHORE: The Punjab government has formally launched the digital Ramadan Nigahban package to support deserving families.
Steps have been taken to ensure transparency at every stage of the package under the Punjab Information Technology Board, while a helpline number 08000-2345 has also been established for information and guidance.
160 special centers have been activated in every tehsil of the province where citizens are being provided with registration and guidance facilities.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed satisfaction over the issuance of Nigahban ATM cards and said that a total of Rs 40 billion in financial assistance will be provided to 4 million families.
She said that the payment of assistance will be completely digital and transparent so that there are no long queues and citizens do not have to face any hardship.
According to the Chief Minister, the process of delivery of ATM cards has started, while branchless banking agents and outlets have also been appointed for card activation and obtaining money.
Maryam Nawaz said that the financial assistance for ration cards during Ramadan has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000.
Furthermore, iftar will be organized for lakhs of fasting people every day under the Nighaban Dastarkhwan in every tehsil and provision of essential items at subsidized rates in convenience markets will be ensured.
