LAHORE: Climate Internship Program for Youth has been launched, under which a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 will be given.
According to the details, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched the “Climate Leadership Development Internship Program” to eliminate environmental pollution and empower the youth.
Under this program, the selected youth will not only be provided with financial assistance but will also receive international level training.
During the internship, the youth will be given Rs 60,000 per month. An internship certificate will also be given by the Punjab government on completion of the 3-month period.
50% of the seats have been reserved in this program to encourage female students, while the youth of each district will get the opportunity to be represented under the automatic merit system.
The special thing about the program is that through it, it will also be possible for the youth to obtain UNESCO certification.
Interns will get hands-on experience working with officers of the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and the Environmental Policy Unit.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on the occasion that the graph of environmental pollution in Punjab, especially Lahore, is coming down. She added that “we will welcome the participation of youth in the mission of environmental improvement, every youth can play a key role in environmental improvement through this program.”
For the convenience of aspiring youth, an online application portal has been opened, where they can apply to be a part of this program from home.
