LAHORE: The Punjab Police are preparing to confront the Katcha area dacoits with some serious ammunition. The Punjab police are in the process of buying more than 50 state-of-the-art telecommunication gear, which will certainly put them at an advantage in their operations.
The department is also purchasing 25 additional bulletproof cars for the counter-terrorism unit and Border Area Police, which will give them the security they require to confront these infamous dacoits.
Besides these acquisitions, the police are also spending on 26 advanced thermal watch solutions and thermal rifle scopes to enhance their combat efficacy.
Additionally, to get a better overview of the area the Punjab police will acquire more than 60 drones for aerial observations.
Moreover, the Sindh Police is also gearing up to counter the Katcha bandits to maintain a secure environment in the region.
Earlier a high-level meeting chaired by the Sindh Chief Secretary reviewed the law and order situation in the Katcha region with senior officials, including Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon.
The gathering debated the police activities in the area and their success, and the IG said 76 dacoits had been killed, 115 wounded, and 363 arrested since January.
