LAHORE: The Punjab government has sought Rs 24 billion from the Finance Department for the bikers subsidy project.
According to sources, the Finance Department has sent a summary to the Chief Minister for approval of the amount for the bikers’ subsidy project.
After the approval of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Finance Department will release Rs 24 billion for the bikers’ subsidy.
Sources say that the Punjab government has estimated to provide a monthly subsidy of Rs 2,000 to 12.5 million bikers in the province.
Sources from the Excise Department say that the Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs 100 per liter of petrol to bikers. More than 8 million bikers have registered for the bikers subsidy project.
Sources say that since 1980, about 50 million motorcycles have been registered in Punjab. The subsidy will start after the bikers’ registration process is completed in Punjab.
