RLNG shortage deepens gas crisis, supply drops sharply

SSGC announces gas supply schedule for Eid-ul-Adha

ISLAMABAD: The gas crisis has intensified across parts of the country due to the non-arrival of RLNG shipments, leading to a significant decline in supply levels, sources said.

According to officials in Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, existing RLNG reserves are depleting rapidly, affecting supply to key sectors including power generation and fertilizers, which have now reached minimal levels.

Sources indicate that gas supply has fallen to around 700 million cubic feet per day, compared to approximately 1,200 million cubic feet per day before the escalation of tensions linked to the Iran-US situation. The shortfall is estimated to have exceeded 600 million cubic feet.

Domestic consumers are also facing reduced supply, although Sui Gas authorities maintain that full gas pressure is being ensured during peak cooking hours.

Officials warn that unless RLNG imports resume soon, the situation may worsen, putting additional strain on industries and households already dealing with energy shortages.
