Rs7.23 per litre reduction announced in kerosene price

ISLAMABAD: After a reduction in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, the government has also lowered the price of kerosene oil.

As per an official notification, the price of kerosene was cut by Rs7.23 per litre, so the new rate comes to Rs311.73 per litre from the earlier Rs318.96 per litre.

The notification said the revised price is effective immediately.

Last week, the government already reduced the price of kerosene by Rs41.80 per litre, as part of a wider revision in petroleum product prices.

Before that, the government had announced a cut of Rs5 per litre in the prices of both petrol and high-speed diesel.

Meanwhile, according to the Petroleum Division, the new price of petrol has been set at Rs409.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now be sold at Rs409.58 per litre.

Sources in the Ministry of Petroleum said that the petrol levy has been reduced, while the diesel levy has been raised.

The petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.24 per litre, bringing it down from Rs117.41 to Rs108.17 per litre.

At the same time, the petroleum levy on diesel has been increased by Rs9.40 per litre, taking it from Rs42.60 to Rs52 per litre.
