Ruet-e-Hilal committee to meet tomorrow for Muharram moon sighting

Met office forecasts Ramadan moon sighting on Feb 18

ISLAMABAD: sitting Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called in Quetta on June 26 (Thursday) for Muharram ul Haram crescent sighting.

According to an official notice, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad will preside over the meeting.
The Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also convene separately on Thursday (tomorrow) at their respective zonal headquarters for the sighting of the moon.

Earlier, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) had forecast the probable sighting of Muharram ul Haram 1447 moon on the evening of June 26 and the first day of the month and the new Hijri year on June 27.

The Youm-e-Ashur (10th of Muharram) is probably to take place on July 06 within the country. In a statement, Suparco stated that the crescent of Muharram ul Haram 1447 Hijri will be born on June 25 at 3:32 PM, its age will be approximately 28:15 hours on sunset on June 26.

An anticipated time interval between sunset and moonset at coastal regions will be 75 minutes,” said a spokesman of the Suparco.
