LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the “Sahar” program to teach daughters of Punjab art and skills at home.
Under the visionary initiatives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an exemplary project like “Skill Enhancement Through Home Reach Program” (Sahar) has been launched for the first time for the daughters of Punjab.
As per the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, ordinary women across Punjab will be made art and skilled at home under the Women Development Department. The “Sahar Program” to increase the proportion of women in the skilled labor force will cost more than Rs 970 million.
Under the program, 5,365 women across the province will be given vocational training at home according to the needs of the market, and courses on beautification services, hospitality and digital technology will be conducted in remote areas, semi-urban and urban areas.
Hospitality courses will be conducted for 1,260 women in collaboration with iTham, a subsidiary of PDCP.
Under the “Sahar” program, hospitality trainees are being taught culinary arts, baking, guest relations, front desk and airline management. The first batch of hospitality training courses under the “Sahar” program in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujranwala have completed their training.
Beautification courses have been organized for 5,206 women in four districts in collaboration with Nail Bar. Hair styling, skincare, makeup and nail art are also being taught to female trainees in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan.
Under the program, 2,040 female trainees will be given a six-month digital skills course in collaboration with PSDF. Under the “Sahar” program, female trainees will also get a laptop, internet device, data package and a monthly stipend.
The Sahar program will teach e-commerce, English language, product research and financial literacy, including Daraz and Shopify. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz prayed for success and expressed her best wishes for the women who completed the training in the Sahar program.
Maryam Nawaz said that if the women of Punjab are economically strong, the country, especially Punjab, will progress. The women population of Punjab is being made a valuable asset. The aim of the launch of the “Sahar” program is to provide development opportunities to women. Widows, dependents and women belonging to minorities will be given priority in the Sahar program.
The Chief Minister said that for the first time, the vocational skill program will bring tangible results at the doorstep of women. Women who take the training course can easily earn their livelihood and become useful citizens of the society.
He further said that the Punjab government will also provide job placement opportunities for women training under the “Sahar” program. The aim of vocational training for women at their doorsteps in Punjab is to establish gender equality.
