ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has achieved a record milestone by registering the highest number of companies in a single month, reflecting growing business confidence and economic documentation in the country.
According to the SECP, a total of 4,082 new companies were registered during April, taking the overall number of registered companies in Pakistan to 294,101. The commission also recorded a new daily registration record, with 340 companies registered on April 30 alone.
The SECP stated that investors from 22 countries registered companies in Pakistan during the month, while 95 shareholders from China alone registered new firms. The total paid-up capital of companies registered by Chinese investors stood at Rs193 million.
Punjab remained at the top with 2,093 new company registrations, followed by Islamabad with 719, Sindh with 600, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 325, Gilgit-Baltistan with 276, and Balochistan with 69 new companies.
The Information Technology and e-commerce sector led the growth trend, with 832 new companies registered in April. Trading sector recorded 757 new companies, services sector 490, while real estate and construction sector saw 358 new registrations.
Similarly, 242 companies were registered in the tourism sector, 158 in food and beverages, 127 in education, and 105 in the textile industry.
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Sidhu said the increase in company registrations is a positive step toward a documented economy and reflects improving investor confidence in Pakistan’s business environment.
