Section 144 imposed in Islamabad as PTI gears up for protest

Section 144 Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration on Monday imposed Section 144, banning all kinds of protest, public gathering, or procession in the federal capital.

According to the notification, this decision is effective immediately in view of security and public order, and action will be taken against violators.

Citizens have been urged to stay away from such activities that are prohibited in the eyes of the law, so that peace and order can be maintained in the city.

In a notification, the district administration warned that the law will be enforced immediately in case of any violation. “If any illegal activity is carried out, action will be taken without delay,” it said.

The order came after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced a protest rally in Islamabad over the failure to meet the founding chairman of PTI, Imran Khan

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, said the protest will start from Swabi, proceed to the Islamabad High Court, and later move towards Adiala Jail.
