Senate by-election postponed in Punjab: Here’s why!

LAHORE: According to sources in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the polling scheduled for May 29 to fill the vacant Senate seat from Punjab will no longer be held.

According to details, the by-election process was postponed due to an ongoing court case regarding reserved seats, Election Commission sources revealed. The sources further said that the Senate election in Punjab has been postponed due to the case related to reserved seats.

The new senator will be elected only after the Punjab Assembly’s electoral college is completed.

The election on Senator Sajid Mir’s seat is now dependent on the court’s decision.

According to sources in the Election Commission, the Senate by-election will remain suspended until the court pronounces its decision.
