KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced plans to launch a Youth Card aimed at expanding educational, employment and recreational opportunities for the province’s young population.
The initiative was approved on the special instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and discussed during a high-level meeting held at the Sindh Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr and attended by senior officials including Secretary Sports Manwar Ali Mahesar, Director Asad Ishaq and Chief Engineer Muhammad Aslam Mehr.
Addressing the meeting, Sardar Mehr said the Youth Card would provide maximum benefits to the younger generation and the government is planning to roll it out before June this year.
According to officials, the card will provide access to education, skills training, employment opportunities, scholarships and sports facilities. The programme is expected to benefit students, recent graduates and young professionals across the province.
Authorities said the eligibility criteria and detailed benefits package are being finalised, adding that the initiative is intended to enhance employability, support youth development and provide financial and educational assistance.
Experts have termed the proposed scheme a significant step toward youth empowerment, saying it could open new avenues for thousands of young people and serve as a model for similar initiatives in other provinces.
