KARACHI: In view of rising fuel prices following the war in the Middle East, the Sindh government has decided to keep schools closed until March 31, according to provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Despite school closures, the exams will be held on time.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Chief Minister of Sindh said that the cabinet approved the Student Attendance Monitoring and Redress System Policy, approving a digital monitoring system for schools.
According to the spokesperson, a mobile app and a digital dashboard will be used to record the attendance and admissions of students, and the new system will help reduce student absenteeism and reduce the dropout rate.
According to the spokesperson, the cabinet was informed in a briefing that the digital monitoring system will be implemented in all schools in Sindh within a year.
The meeting also approved austerity measures, under which government iftar parties were banned, government offices would remain open only four days a week, and an additional holiday would be given, while a 50 percent cut in fuel expenses of government institutions was approved.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister, provincial ministers, advisors, and special assistants decided not to take salaries for three months.
