KARACHI: Sky Wings, a private aviation company, has recently launched its air ambulance service in Pakistan. It is a significant step forward for emergency medical care in the country.
The service will begin with a Piper Seneca aircraft based in Karachi, which will be able to transport patients from any airport to Karachi, ensuring they receive the medical care they need on time.
Additionally, here is a special medical team for each flight that would take care of the patients so they are safe during takeoff to landing. The CEO of the company, Imran Aslam Khan, has much larger plans to increase the service by adding two more aircraft to the fleet soon.
It is planned to have nationwide coverage, so that patients from the remote areas as well as the urban ones get swift transfers to medical facilities. This is quite important for a country like Pakistan, where medical care can be limited in certain areas.
Sky Wings is also replicating the model of the Edhi Foundation, which has been offering emergency medical services in Pakistan for a long time.
Earlier in July 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled a government-owned air ambulance service, which has already seen a few successful sorties, including ferrying an injured woman from Mianwali to Rawalpindi.
This initiative by Sky Wings is an excellent addition to the country’s efforts at emergency medical response, and one is thrilled to see private entities like Sky Wings step forward and make a difference.
