Social media platforms ‘down’ across Pakistan

JIT formed to stop social media campaign against Supreme Court judges

In a temporary setback, internet services across Pakistan experienced disruptions on Sunday, affecting popular social media platforms such as X, Facebook, and YouTube. Reports from major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, indicated difficulties accessing these sites after 4 pm local time. Users also reported sluggish internet speeds.

The disruptions were captured by Downdetector, revealing a spike in connection outages during the incident. Similar disruptions were reported last month, pointing to intermittent challenges faced by users in the region.

As of now, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not issued an official statement regarding the cause of the disruption. However, experts anticipate a swift resolution and a return to normalcy in internet services. Authorities are likely to address the situation promptly, ensuring seamless access to social media platforms for users across the country.
