Solar Panel, Battery, and inverter prices decline across Pakistan

Solar Panel, Battery, and inverter prices decline across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Solar panel prices, lithium batteries, and inverters have experienced a steep decline in the markets of Karachi after the government’s decision not to introduce new taxes on solar products in the 2026-27 budget.

This comes after weeks of talks and rumors that there will be new taxes on imported solar products, which made sellers increase the price of their products to prepare for any future rise in prices after the budget.

According to traders of markets, prices of lithium batteries have come down by approximately Rs. 30,000, whereas the price of inverters has decreased by Rs. 10,000. The price of solar panels has also fallen by around Rs. 3,000.

At present, 645W, 585W, and 720W solar panels are being sold at around Rs. 45 per watt, which was Rs. 50 per watt a few days ago.

As far as prices of lithium batteries are concerned, the price of a 5kWh lithium battery has fallen to around Rs. 230,000. The price of 3kW to 5kW inverters varies according to different brands from Rs. 120,000 to Rs. 300,000.

The reason traders cited for the price adjustment was the government’s lack of any extra taxes imposed on solar equipment. In addition, sufficient stocks, ongoing importation, and reduced demand have contributed to the abundance of supplies, leading dealers to lower prices in order to dispose of their existing inventories.

Solar equipment prices are likely to be stable in the coming weeks because supply will continue to meet demand and there is no need for concern regarding any more taxes being imposed.
