MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Kashmir government has allocated a total of Rs 2.5 trillion for non-development, while development expenditure is estimated at Rs 36 billion.
Finance Minister Chaudhry Qasim Majeed presented the Budget. According to the details, total development expenditure for the financial year 2026 -27 is estimated at Rs 36 billion
For development expenditure, Rs 900 million will be allocated for agriculture and livestock, Rs 100 million for civil defense disaster management, Rs 190 million for development institutions, and Rs 03 billion for education
For development expenditure, Rs 03 billion will be allocated for local government and rural development, Rs 01 billion for physical planning and housing
Rs 03 billion for energy and water resources, Rs 14 billion for communication and construction. In the new fiscal year budget of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, it is proposed to allocate 31 percent for social, 12 percent for productive and 57 percent for infrastructure sectors
Education Package 2026 has also been made part of the budget. Under the package, the total cost of elementary and secondary education will be kept at Rs 2 billion 97 crore 90 lakh
