LAHORE: The start of classes at Punjab University after the summer vacation has been postponed for a week due to heavy rains and floods across Punjab. The university confirmed on Friday that students will now begin their academic session from September 8.

Punjab University announces zero week

According to a PU spokesperson, the university will observe a zero week from September 1 to 7, during which no classes will be held. The decision was taken in light of the disruption caused by monsoon rains and widespread flooding in the province.

Hostel allotment and admissions to continue

Despite the delay in classes, the university clarified that hostel allotment, departmental activities, and admissions will continue as scheduled from September 1 to 7. This move aims to ensure that academic and administrative processes remain on track before classes resume.

Classes to officially start on Sept 8

The spokesperson added that all teaching departments will reopen for regular academic activity on September 8, giving students and staff additional time to settle in after the summer break and ongoing weather challenges.
