ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved the bail of PTI founder Imran Khan in the May 9 cases on Thursday.

The bail was rejected by the Lahore High Court, which was later challenged by the PTI in the Supreme Court.

During the hearing, Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi told the court that he could not appear yesterday due to illness, to which the Chief Justice said that it was okay.

The Chief Justice spoke to the prosecutor and said that the court has two questions for you. You must have read the Lahore High Court decision. Can a final finding be given in a case related to bail?

The Chief Justice said that did the same court grant bail to the accused on the charge of conspiracy? Will the principle of continuity not apply to the case?

The prosecutor said that the court’s observation in the case is always interim.

The Supreme Court has given guidelines regarding bail, which are sometimes followed and sometimes not.

The prosecution lawyer said that PTI founder Imran Khan has a central role in all the cases, to which the Chief Justice said that if they go on the merits, Salman Safdar will also speak.

If the Supreme Court gives an observation on the merits, the trial will be affected. My job was to warn you about the findings; the rest is up to you.

Later on, after hearing both parties, the SC ordered the bail of Imran Khan in May 9 cases.
