ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan got a big relief from the Supreme Court in the damages case.
According to the details, the Supreme Court, while delivering an important verdict, accepted the appeal of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the damages case filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Supreme Court has restored his right to defense by accepting his review petition.
A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice had reserved the verdict after the completion of the hearing of the case.
Later, Justice Ayesha Malik, while delivering a brief verdict today, accepted Imran Khan’s review petition by a majority of two to one. After this decision of the court, the case is now likely to go to the trial stage again.
According to the court’s decision, the parties will be given the opportunity to present their arguments again, after which the proceedings of the case will be resumed.
Legal experts say that this decision could have significant implications for the future stages of the case, as the restoration of the right to defense will give Imran Khan an opportunity to present his position fully.
On the other hand, this decision is being viewed from different angles in political circles, while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is calling it a legal victory.
It should be remembered that this case is related to the claim for damages by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which has been under discussion in political and legal circles for a long time.
