PESHAWAR: Police officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) revealed that terrorists have been using the video game PUBG to communicate and coordinate terrorism activities in the province.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Dr. Zahidullah, this is the first time terrorists have used PUBG for such purposes. Terrorists were using PUBG to chat and share information in chat groups within the game.
This was revealed after Swat police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three terrorists involved in the August 28 attack on the Banr police station, which resulted in the death of a cop and injuries to two others.
DPO Swat identified the arrested militants as Mohammad Haris, Burhanullah, and Shahzad, all hailing from Swat.
During the investigation, police found the chat history of PUBG, installed on their mobile phones, has been used for communication purposes. Along with that, police also recorded weapons and other ammunition.
Three to four terrorists were communicating within the game considering that chats in PUBG lack monitoring capabilities, which facilitates covert communication to achieve their targets, DPO Swat said.
The DPO stated that Swat Police are fully prepared to tackle all kinds of challenges and will not allow the peace in Swat to be disturbed under any circumstances.
