LAHORE: In a strategic move to enhance crime control, Lahore authorities have decided to establish 10 new police stations across the city.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations has submitted a summary of these proposed stations to the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab.
As part of the plan, the Nishtar Colony and Factory Area police stations will merge to form the Punjab Society police station. Additionally, the Baghbanpura area will be divided, giving rise to the creation of the Shaheed police station from Thana Shahid.
Other suggestions include creating police stations in Kahna, Begum Kot, Rakh Chandra Roy, and Chowki Sabzi Mandi; upgrading the Raiwind police station outpost Jaya Baga; and raising the Chowki Shershah of Chohang police station.

Authorities contend that it is essential for preventing crime to divide up large police stations based on population density.
According to police officials, Lahore currently has 84 police stations spread across six divisions; the planned construction of these additional stations would bring the total number of stations to 94.
