Traffic plan announced for Pakistan vs South Africa test match in Rawalpindi

ITP issues traffic plan amid underpass construction in Islamabad

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Traffic Police on Thursday revealed a comprehensive traffic arrangement plan for the upcoming Pakistan–South Africa Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.

City Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam remarked that more than 367 traffic wardens and officers will be dispatched around the stadium for easy traffic flow and public facilitation during the event.

He added that a special traffic diversion plan has been devised to keep congestion to a minimum, and extra staff would be deployed at the major diversion points to help motorists.

Islamabad-bound traffic would be diverted from Faizabad to the Islamabad Expressway, whereas Rawalpindi to Islamabad traffic would be diverted from 6th Road to Saidpur Road.

The CTO further said that Stadium Road, between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road, will be kept closed to all traffic for the duration of the matches. IJP Road and Faizabad have been made alternative routes.

For convenience of spectators, parking facilities have been arranged in Civil Aviation Ground, Shahbaz Sharif Park, and Government Graduate College Satellite Town, and shuttle buses will go to the stadium.

Regular updates on traffic information will be provided from time to time via social media and local radio.
