LAHORE: Toll tax has been increased for citizens traveling on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has issued a formal notification of the new toll rates of the Motorway M-2, according to which the toll tax has been increased by 7%.
According to the notification, the new toll rates will be implemented from July 5, 2026, while these rates will remain in force until April 23, 2027.

According to the NHA, the increase in toll tax has been made under the 2014 agreement, according to which toll rates are increased after a specific period.
Under the new schedule, the toll tax for cars, jeeps and taxis on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway has been increased to Rs 1,430, the toll tax for wagons has been set at Rs 2,390, while the toll tax for coasters has been set at Rs 3,350.
According to the notification issued by the NHA, the toll tax for buses has been fixed at Rs 4,770, in addition, 2 and 3 axle trucks will have to pay a toll of Rs 6,210, while the toll tax for articulated trucks has been fixed at Rs 7,980.
After the increase in toll tax, the expenses of citizens, transporters and commercial vehicle owners traveling from Lahore to Islamabad will further increase.
People associated with the transport sector say that the increase in motorway toll rates may also have an impact on fares and the cost of transporting goods.
According to NHA officials, the new toll rates have been implemented under the prescribed policy and agreement.
