KALAT: At least two security personnel were martyred and four others injured in a powerful bomb blast targeting a patrol vehicle in the Mangochar area of Kalat district in southwestern Balochistan on Saturday, security sources said.
The blast took place near a Bomb Disposal (BD) team post in Joban area, allegedly hitting a vehicle carrying security personnel during a routine patrol. Levies sources confirmed that the attack was carried out using a remotely operated improvised explosive device (IED).
Security forces and rescue teams reached the spot after the blast and shifted the bodies and injured personnel to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. However, security officials suspect the involvement of insurgent elements active in the area.
The area was cordoned off immediately after the incident, and a search operation was launched to nab the culprits.
