UK issues travel advisory for Pakistan amid tensions

184 Pakistan flights canceled as Middle East airspace remains closed

ISLAMABAD: The United Kingdom’s (UK) government has issued a travel warning to its citizens, requesting them to avoid traveling to Pakistan and India due to the intense tensions between the two countries.

The tensions have arisen following the Pahalgam incident, as India began blaming Pakistan for the incident without any evidence. According to the travel advisory from the UK government, it has advised against travel near the Pakistan-India border and the Line of Control (LoC) due to security concerns.

In its advisory, the UK Foreign Office has advised its citizens to postpone travel to the region until the situation improves. Read more: Indian Forces Violate Unprovoked Firing at the LoC.

Before this, the United States (US) also informed its citizens to avoid travel to Pakistan and India due to the Pahalgam incident. DO NOT TRAVEL to the India-Pakistan Border, including any area along the Line of Control, for any reason.

India and Pakistan have a large military presence on their respective sides of the border. The only Pakistan-India border crossing point for persons other than citizens of India or Pakistan is in the Province of Punjab at the border of Wagah, Pakistan, and Atari, India, the advisory said.

Additionally, travelers are advised to check border crossing status before making any travel arrangements.
