UN vehicle came under attack

TANK: Two United Nations (UN) officials escaped an attack after seven militants opened fire on a United Nations Office For Project Service (UNOPS) vehicle in the Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

According to the police spokesperson, two UN officials were in the car when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire. However, they remained unhurt as the vehicle was armoured.

“The UN vehicle was coming to Tank from D. I. Khan when it came under attack,” police spokesperson Muhammad Ibrahim told the international publication. “However, the two staffers are safe and have been shifted to the Deputy Commisioner’s compound.”

Police said the vehicle had no armed escort and the UN logo on the vehicle. The United Nations mission in the area has been asked to evacuate the area after the incident, police officials added.
