WASHINGTON: The United States of America (USA) has suspended the issuance of visas for 75 countries, including Pakistan.
This will be effective from January 21 and visas will not be issued until the immigration processing procedure is reviewed.
A spokesperson for the US State Department said that President Trump’s administration has temporarily suspended the issuance of visas for 75 countries, while the suspension of visa processing will begin from January 21.
These countries include Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, Somalia, Brazil, Nigeria, Jordan, Kuwait, Thailand, Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Lebanon and Libya.
US officials say that the decision to suspend visas has been taken due to a review of the immigration processing procedure. The aim of this move is to prevent foreigners from receiving US government benefits and welfare benefits.
It should be noted that the US has revoked the visas of 100,000 people so far this year, 8,000 of which were student visas, while 2,500 visas were revoked from individuals who violated US law in some way.
The US State Department, issuing a statement on its official Twitter account, said that deportation and visa revocation operations will continue to keep America safe.
