LAHORE: The sale and use of cigarettes, naswar, and paan—considered highly harmful to human health—have been banned within the premises of Hayatabad Medical Complex.

The administration of Hayatabad Medical Complex has issued a formal notification that bans the sale and consumption of cigarettes, paan, and naswar at all medical facilities because these products present serious health dangers.

The hospital announcement prohibits all forms of intoxicating drugs, which include naswar and paan, from being used inside hospital grounds.

The ban also applies to all products that contain nicotine, including Velo nicotine pouches. The announcement establishes a prohibition against tobacco sales through hospital canteens and shops.

The canteen management and shopkeepers have received strict orders to follow this rule. Hayatabad Medical Complex administration has announced that any rule-breaking will lead to both canteen contract termination and shop closure.

The official statement indicates that the Medical Teaching Institution will eliminate all substances that pose health risks to the facility.

Security and facility management teams have been assigned the responsibility to monitor operations, while the hospital director must create regular monitoring reports.
