Victor Gao teaches Indian General history, slams aggressive diplomacy in live broadcast

ISLAMABAD: During a live broadcast, Professor Victor Gao, Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization, chastised Indian retired General Bakshi for his views on Pakistan-China relations.

“General Bakshi, you have to study history. Gao told the retired Indian army general, who questioned the Islamabad-Beijing ties, that no power in the world could shatter the China-Pakistan friendship.

When General Bakshi reiterated his charges against Pakistan, the program started with conventional analysis but quickly exploded off.

Victor Gao not only faced him head-on but also revealed the holes in his story using historical allusions, thereby compelling the Indian general to change subjects continuously out of irritation.

The turning point came with Gao’s remark, “General Bakshi, you need to study history.” He maintained that decades of strong, unbreakable bonds—”as solid as the rocks of the mountains”—underpin the China-Pakistan connection, not fleeting interests.

He remarked that this link spans several decades and is unbreakable, not starting in May 2025.

Gao emphasized China’s and Pakistan’s strategic cooperation, citing as symbols of mutual trust their joint creation of fighter planes and an extensive defensive partnership.

Professor Gao responded strongly to General Bakshi designating Pakistan as a terrorism hotspot, saying that “labeling a country a terrorist state and calling for instant action reflects aggression and irresponsibility, not diplomacy.”

He insisted that the international community work for peace, that of war, by means of conversation and the demand for evidence.
