Viral video falsely attributes offensive remarks to KP CM Sohail Afridi

Non-bailable warrant issued against Sohail Afridi

PESHAWAR: A video clip that went viral on social media following a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 7 has been proven to be misleading. The clip falsely claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi made controversial remarks in response to a press conference by the Director General of ISPR.

The claim originated from a 29-second video shared on X (formerly Twitter), in which the user alleged that Afridi made the remarks while addressing a PTI gathering in Peshawar. The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 102,000 views, 474 reposts, and more than 900 likes.

However, fact-checking has confirmed that the claim is false. Independent verification revealed that the audio in the viral video was manipulated and does not reflect Afridi’s actual speech. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools were reportedly used to alter the original audio to misrepresent his statement.
