When will Eid al-Adha be? Astronomers have predicted

Eidul Azha 2026: Goat, bull prices surge across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: According to the preliminary estimate issued by astronomers, this year’s Eid al-Adha is likely to be on Wednesday, May 27.

Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, says that the first day of Dhul-Hijjah is expected to be on May 18. Based on this calculation, the Day of Arafah may fall on May 26. All these dates are based on astronomical calculations, the final announcement will be made only after the sighting of the crescent.

According to experts, the moon of Dhul-Hijjah will be born on May 17. At sunset on that day, the age and height of the moon will be such that there will be a possibility of seeing it. This is why the new month is expected to begin the next day.

It was further informed that according to the UAE time, the moon will be born on May 17 at 12:12 noon. After this, attempts will be made to see the moon in different countries. If the moon is seen, the first day of Dhul-Hijjah will be on May 18.

It should be noted that the final date of Eid-ul-Adha is announced by the relevant Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in each country. Therefore, Eid may fall with a difference of one day in different countries.
