MATIARI: An unfortunate event of violence against a woman has emerged in the Matiari district of Sindh. Police stated that a woman named Hassana was brutally beaten by her relatives in the village of Ghulam Muhammad Unar, located in Matiari.

Relatives of Hassana accused her of helping their daughter elope, and as a result, they tied her up with ropes and caused considerable harm, including breaking both of her legs.

According to the details, four of Hassana’s relatives practiced severe torture, including shaving her hair. Afterward, they called the police, who took Hassana to a hospital.

Hassana alleged that she had nothing to do with the supposed elopement and that the daughter married of her own volition about three days prior.

Following the incident, the police intervened and took Hassana to a hospital for medical attention. Hassana denied any involvement in the alleged elopement, stating that the daughter had married of her own accord a few days prior.

The police have taken one suspect into custody in connection with the torture, while a search is ongoing for the remaining three suspects.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Matiari has taken notice of the incident, and a further investigation is underway. The incident highlights the alarming issue of violence against women in the region and the need for swift and effective action to protect their rights and safety.
