Young man killed in road accident by Chinese man

Man lost his life in accident in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A young man tragically lost his life in a car accident on Sunday, August 18 involving a vehicle driven by a Chinese national, within the Margalla Police Station’s jurisdiction.

The incident occurred on the road near Mehran Gate, F-9 Park, in the New Blue Area along Jinnah Avenue. The collision was caused by a burst tire on the Chinese driver’s car, which led to the vehicle veering off course and hitting the young man.

The victim, identified as Waliullah, a 22- or 23-year-old from Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was killed in the accident. The Chinese driver was injured in the crash.

The dead body was transferred to the nearby police station, whereas the Chinese man was taken to the hospital for further medical checkup and was later interrogated.

In a separate case, the Islamabad police are investigating a British embassy official involved in a similar incident from June, where the official hit a constable while violating traffic rules.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) has asked the interior ministry to reach out to the Foreign Office to determine the diplomat’s status and whether they hold diplomatic immunity.
