Pakistani orthopedic surgeon and public commentator Dr Omer Adil has sparked debate online after openly criticizing writer and actor Vasay Chaudhary during a recent podcast appearance.
Dr Omer Adil advises Vasay Chaudhary to retire from film writing while discussing the current state of Pakistan’s film industry on Public Demand Season 2, hosted by Mohsin Abbas Haider. His comments quickly gained attention across social media platforms due to their blunt and controversial nature.
During the conversation, Dr Omer Adil claimed that Pakistan’s cinema industry is suffering because of weak storytelling and poor scriptwriting. According to him, many recently released Pakistani films failed at the box office mainly because their scripts lacked originality and depth. He stressed that a strong screenplay remains the foundation of every successful film.
While sharing his opinion, Dr Omer Adil directly targeted Vasay Chaudhary, saying that younger writers are more capable of producing quality stories for modern audiences. He further remarked that some senior writers should step away from the industry respectfully to allow fresh talent to emerge.
The commentator also criticized one of Vasay Chaudhary’s recent films, alleging that the project focused more on style and foreign locations than meaningful storytelling. His remarks created mixed reactions online, with some users supporting his criticism of the industry, while others defended Vasay Chaudhary’s contribution to Pakistani entertainment.
Dr Omer Adil also jokingly accused host Mohsin Abbas Haider of avoiding stronger criticism because of his connections with filmmakers and industry figures from Karachi. The viral interview clip continues circulating on entertainment pages and discussion forums.
