TV series 'Barzakh' faces criticism for airing gay content

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani drama industry has been a hit for several years now. Pakistani dramas are loved by not only the audiences located in Pakistan but also across borders.

Many Pakistani actors have worked on an international level supported by different sponsorships. The recently introduced drama serial ”Barzakh” has been a topic of discussion since its airing.  The series revolves around the concept of a fictional world where the dead and living co-exist, hence it’s given the title ”Barzakh”.

The drama casts Fawad Khan, Khushal Khan, Sanam Saeed, Sajid Hassan, and Salman Shahid as its lead characters. The drama is produced by Shailja Kejriwal and  Waqas Hassan. Moreover, It is currently broadcast on ZEE5 ( an Indian channel) and Youtube.

However, casting high-paid actors or using beautiful locations nothing could save the drama serial from negative and harsh comments from the viewers. Barzakh faced severe black clashes from its audience for using inappropriate content.

Recently, the drama serial became a social media troll for airing a controversial and intimate scene featuring two male guys doing  ”Gay Kiss” in its third episode.

People from all around the nation criticized the production team and blamed them for promoting LGBTQ content in Pakistani dramas.

Here’s how people reacted:

It is so sad to see my literate, Muslim mutuals supporting and defending this filthy drama #barzakh pic.twitter.com/Ysq1qOjkbc
