Abdur Rehman appointed spin bowling coach for Pakistan national team

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced a major decision regarding the national team’s coaching staff, appointing former Test cricketer Abdur Rehman as the spin bowling coach.

Rehman, who represented Pakistan in Test, ODI and T20 International cricket from 2006 to 2014, joined the team in Multan and is set to take charge from the upcoming series against the West Indies.

The left-arm spinner has taken 140 wickets during his international career and has earned recognition for his skill and accuracy.

During 2011-12, Rehman had formed a formidable combination in Pakistan’s spin bowling department with spinner Saeed Ajmal, paving the way for the Green Shirts’ clean sweep against England in the UAE in 2012.

In addition to his international experience, Rehman had also previously served as the coach of the Pakistan Women’s team, further cementing his credentials.

The first match of the two-Test series between Pakistan and West Indies will be played from January 17.
