Abhishek Sharma fined for IPL 2026 code of conduct breach

MUMBAI: Sunrisers Hyderabad player Abhishek Sharma has been punished for violating the code of conduct in the Indian Premier League 2026.

According to media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined Abhishek Sharma 25 percent of his match fee and given him one demerit point.

The incident occurred during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, where the player used inappropriate language on the field, which could be heard by spectators in the stadium and through the broadcast. According to reports, the violation falls under clause 2.3 of the IPL code of conduct, which prohibits language or behavior that is offensive or inappropriate.

According to reports, Abhishek Sharma admitted his mistake, after which the punishment given by the match referee was declared final. It should be noted that in the said match, Abhishek Sharma scored 48 runs off 21 balls while batting well.

Despite their performance, the violation of the code of conduct pushed their performance into the background.
