ULAANBAATAR: Pakistani cueist Asjad Iqbal managed to secure a place in the final after defeating India’s Malkeet Singh with a comprehensive 6-0 victory in the semi-final of the IBSF World Six Red Snooker Championship, being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Tuesday.
Pakistani’s top snooker player outplayed Indian rival, starting with a comfortable 49-18 win in the first frame.
Asjad Iqbal managed to clean sweep by winning 6 straight frames with a scoreline of 38-34, 46-13, 40-31, 52-13, and a crushing 45-0 in the final frame, preventing Singh from winning a single frame in the best-of-11 contest.
Iqbal made it into the final of the World Championship with a brilliant form shown throughout the tournament, a glimpse of which was shown in the semi-final further emphasizing his dominance.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, Asjad defeated Cyprus’ Michael Georgiou 5-2, securing his place in the semi-finals. With this resounding victory, Iqbal is seen as a top contender for the title.
Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal will face the winner of the second semi-final, which will take place between Richard Wienold of Germany and India’s Kamal Chawla, in the final tomorrow.
