LAHORE: An auction system is being introduced instead of the traditional draft system for selecting players in HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11.

These changes will be implemented from the 11th edition of the tournament.

According to officials, the auction will help teams become more balanced, while players will also get better financial opportunities.

The PCB has also announced the removal of mentors, brand ambassadors, and right to match (RTM) rules from the league.

Before the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain a total of four players; however, only one player will be retained in each category.

The two new franchises joining the league have been given a special exemption and have been given the option to select four players each before the auction.

In addition, each franchise has also been allowed to directly sign one international player; however, the condition will be that that player has not been part of the PSL 2025 edition.

The salary cap for each team for the auction has been set at US$1.6 million.

The 11th edition of the HBL PSL will begin on March 26, with some matches being played at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad for the first time.

PCB officials say the changes are aimed at making the league more competitive, transparent, and in line with world standards.
