LAHORE: Babar Azam, the Pakistani batter, will likely play in the second Test match against Bangladesh because his knee injury assessment showed no severe damage.

Team sources report that Babar has completed all practice sessions while showing progress in his recovery from left knee pain that occurred during opening Test match training.

The star batter experienced discomfort during Thursday’s practice session, which led team management to send him for an MRI scan. Pakistan chose to keep Babar out of the first Test match against Bangladesh after doctors assessed his medical condition.

Sources further revealed that Babar himself did not request rest from the match. The Pakistan team management decided to rest him because of his injury, while they wanted him available for future matches of the series.

Earlier, Pakistan suffered a major setback when the former captain became unavailable for the first Test match, which created fan concerns before their important away matches in Bangladesh.

The second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on May 16 in Sylhet, where Babar is expected to join the playing XI again. The batting roster of Pakistan needs its experienced player to return because he will help the team succeed in their upcoming match against Bangladesh.
