Fielding requires lot of attention, Mohsin Naqvi tells cricket team in Dublin

DUBLIN: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi accompanied by Wahab Riaz from the selection committee held two hours long meeting with the cricket team in Dublin on Sunday.

“Fight till the last ball; competition should appear,” Mohsin Naqvi said while stressing that no one accepted defeat in the first match against Ireland in the series opener.

Addressing the squad in Ireland’s capital, the PCB chairman urged the national cricket team to elevate their fielding standards and exhibit unwavering determination, PCB shared a statement.

Taking on X, the PCB shared a video of the PCB chief meeting the Green Shirts, adding that a detailed discussion on the action plan took place during the two-hour-long meetup.

Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi urged the players to work hard and advised them to play with passion and a professional approach. “T20 cricket has a completely different and aggressive approach.”

Naqvi said winning will be possible only by playing according to the modern and new style of T20 cricket. “Strategy can be formulated sitting in the living room but the real test is in the field,’ the PCB statement quoted him as telling the team.

PCB chief praised all players as “undoubtedly talented, professional and the best”, adding that the team’s bowling attack was excellent.

“Fielding requires a lot of attention so that the opposing team does not get any chance. Players are the hope of Pakistan and you have to live up to the expectations of the nation,” he said.

PCB chairman addressed green shirts that success would come if all 11 of the players fought for Pakistan as one.

“No one is accepting the loss in the first match against Ireland. The real test after Ireland and England is the World Cup,” he concluded.
