LAHORE: There is no major development on Monday regarding the highly anticipated Pakistan-India match in the ICC T20 World Cup, amid uncertainty over Pakistan’s participation.
According to media reports, a meeting was held a day earlier between officials of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to discuss Pakistan’s proposed boycott of the fixture against India.
Sources said the talks remained inconclusive, and no final decision could be reached during the initial round of consultations. Sources say that a breakthrough is likely in the next 24 hours.
In this regard, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is also expected to meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif today, after which a final decision will be taken on whether to play against India or not.
Indian media claims that the ICC has given Pakistan a deadline of today, i.e., February 9, to decide on the match against India.
However, sources say that there is no possibility of any progress today regarding the Pakistan-India match; the final decision in this regard will probably be made on February 12.
It should be noted that after the ICC mistreated Bangladesh, the PCB, on the instructions of the Pakistani government, decided to participate in the T20 World Cup and not play the match with India.
