GUWAHATI: South Africa crushed India by a huge margin of 408 runs on the fifth day of play today.
In this Test match, the visiting team won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 489 runs in their first innings.
In response, the Indian team scored 201 runs and trails by 288 runs.
South Africa started their second innings with a lead of 288 runs and declared their innings by scoring 260 runs for the loss of 5 players.

The Indian team was dismissed for 140 runs in its second innings and thus had to bear the humiliation of defeat by 408 runs.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier in the year 2000, South Africa had won the Test series on Indian soil and this happened again after 25 years.
Earlier, in the Test match played at Eden Gardens, South Africa won the match by 30 runs on the third day of play.
