IPL 2026: Cameron Green not allowed to bowl, sparks controversy

MUMBAI: Cricket Australia has barred all-rounder Cameron Green from bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL)  tournament.

Questions have been raised in the Indian media about the most expensive cricketer not being allowed to bowl. Green was bought by the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for 252 million Indian rupees.

Cameron Green is the third most expensive overseas player in the IPL overall, but he did not bowl in the match against the Mumbai Indians for KKR.

After the defeat to KKR in a high-scoring match, everyone noted Cameron Green’s absence from bowling. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane said when asked about Cameron Green, “Ask Cricket Australia.”

Cricket Australia spokesperson’s statement

According to a Cricket Australia spokesperson, Cameron Green has been prevented from bowling for a short time due to a lower back injury; however, KKR was formally informed about this.

A Cricket Australia spokesperson says that Cameron Green is taking care of the bowling load in India, and he may return to bowling in 10 to 12 days.
