Kabaddi player shot dead During tournament in Mohali

MOHALI: A tragic incident occurred during the ongoing kabaddi tournament in Mohali, Punjab, India.

According to Indian media, unknown assailants shot and killed a kabaddi player under the pretext of taking a selfie.

According to Indian police, the victim has been identified as Rana Balachoria. Yesterday, two to three people riding a motorcycle came to the kabaddi ground and pretended to go near the players and take a picture. At the same time, they suddenly opened fire indiscriminately on Rana Balachoria.

Rana Balachoria was hit by four to five bullets on his face and upper body in the attack. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in a serious condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that the attackers came near the players under the pretext of taking a picture and suddenly started firing. We are investigating from various angles. It is premature to reach any final conclusion at this stage.

Police have cordoned off the area and started collecting evidence and the incident is also being viewed in the context of gang war.

Meanwhile, the infamous Bombay gang, in a statement released on social media, claimed responsibility for the murder, claiming that Rana Balachoriya had sheltered the killers of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and hence he was killed.
