LAHORE: Former Lahore Qalandars leg-spinner Maaz Khan has decided to part ways from Pakistani cricket and pursue his career in Zimbabwe.
He was part of the franchise’s winning squad in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022.
Maaz Khan is a right-arm leg-break, originally from the Bajaur District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He made his T20 debut for Lahore Qalandars in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. Maaz played 3 matches with 2 wickets in the PSL.
He also played List A cricket for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cricket team during the 2021–22 season. He came through the Qalandars’ talent-development program.
Though still young and once viewed as a promising spin prospect, Maaz’s decision to leave Pakistan’s cricket circuit comes at a time when many players re-evaluate their career trajectories.
He carries the experience of PSL, domestic cricket, and the grooming he received at the Qalandars while starting his new career in Zimbabwe.
Recently, many players permanently left Pakistan for other countries, such as Kaleem Sana (Canada), Bilal Khan (Oman), and Riazat Ali Shah (Uganda), who moved for better opportunities or limited domestic chances.
