Pak vs Ban: Bangladesh reach 152/3 on Day 4, tighten grip on first Test

DHAKA: By the end of the fourth day of play of the first Test against Pakistan, Bangladesh had scored 152 runs for 3 wickets in the second innings, and its overall lead over Pakistan has increased to 179 runs.

Bangladeshi openers started the game on the fourth day of the Test match being played in Dhaka.

When Bangladesh’s score reached 15 runs, Mohammad Abbas showed the way to the pavilion to the host team’s opener, Mahmudul Hasan.

Bangladesh’s second wicket fell for 23 runs, Shadman Islam became the victim of Hasan Ali after scoring 10 runs.

In the third wicket partnership, Mominul Haq and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added 105 runs. Mominul Haq was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi for 56 runs, and captain Najmul Hossain also managed to score a half-century.

By the end of the fourth day, Bangladesh had scored 152 runs for three wickets, Najmul Hossain was not out on 58, and Mushfiqur Rahim was not out on 16 runs; Bangladesh’s lead had increased to 179 runs.

On the fourth day, play could not be played for about three hours due to rain.

First innings

In the first innings, the Bangladesh team was all out for 413 runs. Najmul Hasan Shanto scored 101 runs, Mominul Haq scored 91 runs, and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 71 runs.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas took 5 wickets and Shaheen Afridi 3 wickets, while Noman Ali and Hasan Ali dismissed one player each.

The national team was bowled out for 386 runs in the first innings and thus Bangladesh got a lead of 27 runs in the first innings.

Azan Owais scored a brilliant 103 runs, Abdullah Fazal 60, Muhammad Rizwan 59, and Salman Ali Agha stood out with 58 runs, among other batsmen. Imam-ul-Haq scored 45, and Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 13 runs.

For Bangladesh, Mehdi Hasan Miraz bowled well and took 5 wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Tejul Islam took 2 wickets each.
