ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has mandated that all national sports seek prior approval before taking part in any sports event held in India.
The action was taken on the Prime Minister’s Office’s special orders in response to increased regional sensitivities and security concerns. The PSB Board’s 34th meeting marked the official approval of the instruction.
Without first consulting the board, no national sports federation is permitted to independently agree, promise, or announce participation in any competition in India, per a PSB circular.
“In light of the current security situation, all federations must obtain clearance from the PSB before making any commitment to events hosted in India,” the statement reads.
The Pakistan Sports Board has also warned federations against circumventing official procedures and ordered that this policy be applied rigorously and consistently.
